Skills Training for Supervisors
Frequently asked questions

On this page, we answer some common questions to help you decide how to organise the Supervisor Skills training course best suited to you.
Q: Do you run 'public' courses I can book on ?
Yes : for all popular courses, we schedule training every month at one of our centres.
The courses are designed to give delegates the fastest possible progress on the day by covering content in a clear, methodical fashion,
in a positive and friendly environment. You will find that our prices are extremely competitive, too !
Q: What if I have special requirements ?
At Activia we deliver bespoke training courses which are designed to meet the specific needs of each client.
In the highly individual area of HR and supervision, every company, every group of delegates, operate in their own environment : differences can arise
in the kind of market, the department concerned, and of course the people to be trained. For this reason, private, bespoke training
can often give a more appropriate solution than a standard public course.
Q: Does bespoke training cost more ?
No : In fact, course consultation and design is free of charge, and for groups of delegates, the price per person compares
very favourably with 'public' courses that, as we say above, may not deliver the same level of improvement.
Q: Does the training work ?
Yes : You organise training because you want results, so we work towards measurable improvements in performance.
And by making the courses enjoyable for the delegates, we increase participation and enhance the effectiveness of the training.
We also use pre- and post-course appraisals to help us define just how effective the training is.
Q: How is the training organised ?
Public courses
Just call us to discuss your requirements, and we can book you on the next available course.
Private/bespoke courses
We can keep the process as simple or as consultative as you want. A full process would involve:
- Initial definition - The assignment starts with a definition of the
improvements needed, often including the delegates' own strengths and weaknesses in the area.
- Key Skills and attributes - We then produce a list of key skills and
attributes that need to be addressed in the training
- Pre-course appraisal - Each delegate fills in a pre-course questionnaire on
their perceived competence on the key skills and attributes
- Training delivery - Courses are run on a lively, participative basis, where
delegates join in with activities, offering suggestions, and relating the course contents to their own
working environment
- Post-course appraisal - After the training, each delegate rates their
competence on the key skills and attributes : this provides an invaluable guide to management on how
they feel they have improved
- Subsequent follow-up - If required, we can provide ongoing support and
mentoring in order to maintain and improve delegate performance
Q: Where is the training held ?
Public course are held at one of our centres, and we can deliver private training at our premises, or come to your offices.
In either case, we provide all training materials, handouts and literature.
Q: What is the best class size ?
We generally recommend class sizes between four and ten people, to gain suitable levels of
interaction while maintaining adequate focus.
However, when circumstances dictate, we are able to organise one-to-one or two-to-one sessions where
much more specific needs can be addressed and met.
Q: How do I arrange my supervisor training ?

to discuss how we can deliver training for your supervisory needs.
