What are the best short cut keys to learn?

Here’s a list of some of the more useful shortcuts:
To undo typing CTRL+Z or ALT+BACKSPACE
To undo changes Hit ESC once for current field, ESC twice for current record
To insert the current date CTRL+SEMICOLON (;)
To insert the current time CTRL+COLON (:)
To insert the default value for a field CTRL+ALT+SPACEBAR
To insert the value from the same CTRL+APOSTROPHE (') field in the previous record
To add a new record CTRL+PLUS SIGN (+)
To delete the current record CTRL+MINUS SIGN (-)
To recalculate the fields in the window F9

How can I switch the office assistant off?

That’s easy, right click the office assistant, and from the shortcut menu, select hide. Alternatively, from the help menu, select hide the office assistant, the office assistant will be hidden.

How do I close a table?

From the left-hand side of the datasheet’s title bar, click the document control icon and select close.

What features has Access 2002 got that Access 2000 has not?

  • There are no Smart Tags
  • Task panes are not very useful
  • It doesn’t have all the speech and handwriting features. Voice control is possible when navigating tables and entering data but not when in design mode.
  • “Save on Crash” is missing. This is understandable in a multi-user or client/server system because of the problem deciding which version of the data to restore.

How do I Wrap text in a field?

All you have to do is type the first line of text in the text box control, press Ctrl-Enter, the text box will position the cursor at the beginning of a new line, type the next line of text.
