Full details of modules and topics covered in this one-day course

This is a one-day training course structured into 13 modules

This intensive one-day training course teaches delegates basic project management techniques, and is intended to familiarise delegates with the most common terms and the most current thinking about projects. It will also provide the basic knowledge required to attend more advanced project management courses.

This one day workshop is targeted at people who have little or no knowledge of project management tools or techniques, but have become involved with projects. They may be new or intended Project Managers, project administrators or support staff, who need to acquire a basic understanding in the shortest possible time.

Project Management isn’t just for construction engineers and military logistics experts any more. Today, in addition to the regular duties of your job, you are often expected to take on extra assignments - and to get that additional job done well, under budget, and on time.
Whether you are a full time Project Manager, or have part of your job that requires the effective completion of projects, you need Project Management skills.

At the end of the day, delegates will be able to:

  • Understand what is meant by a project
  • Understand what project management means
  • Identify benefits of projects
  • Identify the phases of a project’s life cycle
  • Enhance your ability to sell ideas and make presentations
  • Prioritise projects
  • Begin conceptualising your project, including goals and vision statements
  • Use a target chart and other planning tools
  • Complete a Statement of Work

General Information

All Activia project management courses have been created, reviewed and developed to ensure up to date provision and constantly improving standards of content. Our Project Management Essentials training is interactive and classroom-based which maximises learning through the ability to ask questions and discuss specific issues.

Class Sizes

Maximum class size for Project Management Essentials courses is 8 delegates, which ensures that attendees get adequate time for personal attention from the instructor. At some of our centres, the maximum class size is 10 delegates.

Note that we never cancel our scheduled classes -- even if there are only one or two delegates -- so once you have booked, your place is assured.

For training at your offices, we can deliver classes of up to 12 delegates, though with bigger class sizes you must understand that there is less time for questions from delegates, and this may affect the quality of their experience.
