Full details of modules and topics covered in this one-day course

This is a one-day training course structured into 12 modules

This intensive one-day training course builds on the fundamentals taught in our Project Management Introduction course. It takes delegates through the remaining three stages of the project lifecycle: planning, execution, and termination, providing the knowledge required for the technical aspects of managing a project.

This workshop is intended for those who understand the conceptual phase of a project’s life cycle, including setting goals, creating a vision statement, and creating the Statement of Work. They should have attended our Setting Up Projects For Success course or be fully familiar with the subjects it covers.

Once a project has been set up correctly, the work needs to be planned, executed and controlled in response to events. In order to do this effectively, it is necessary to be familiar with a range of tools that assist in the successful implementation of the plan.

By the end of the day, delegates will be able to:

  • Identify your project's tasks and resources
  • Order tasks using the Work Breakdown Structure
  • Schedule tasks effectively
  • Use basic planning tools such as a Gantt chart, PERT diagram, and network diagram
  • Prepare a project budget
  • Modify the project budget and schedule to meet targets
  • Identify and manage risks
  • Prepare a final project plan
  • Execute and terminate a project
  • Develop and manage a change control process

General Information

All Activia project management training courses have been created, reviewed and developed to ensure up to date provision and constantly improving standards of content. Our Project Management Essentials training is interactive and classroom-based which maximises learning through the ability to ask questions and discuss specific issues.

Class Sizes

Maximum class size for Project Management Essentials courses is 8 delegates, which ensures that attendees get adequate time for personal attention from the instructor. At some of our centres, the maximum class size is 10 delegates.

Note that we never cancel our scheduled classes -- even if there are only one or two delegates -- so once you have booked, your place is assured.

For training at your offices, we can deliver classes of up to 12 delegates, though with bigger class sizes you must understand that there is less time for questions from delegates, and this may affect the quality of their experience.
